The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade has announced the opening of registration for the Maldivian producers’ register, aiming to assist local producers in connecting with potential buyers both within the Maldives and internationally. This initiative is designed to provide business opportunities for income-generating producers and those producing goods for commercial sale.
The register, launched by the economic ministry, seeks to identify and promote individuals who produce goods for income and commercial purposes. By doing so, it aims to offer these producers greater market access both domestically and abroad. The ministry also intends to address and overcome the challenges faced by local producers by identifying their needs and facilitating connections with markets in countries with which the Maldives has entered into free trade and other trade agreements.
Producers interested in registering must do so by 15th August. The registration form is available in the Government Gazette, and further queries can be directed to the ministry’s contact centre at 1500.
The government has prioritised the promotion of Maldivian products and expanding market access for local producers. As part of this effort, Maldivian products will soon be available in Washington DC, United States, through the Authentic Maldives store, operated by the Business Centre Corporation (BCC).
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing the visibility and market reach of Maldivian products, thereby supporting local producers and stimulating economic growth.
