ARC Launches Website to Combat Child Abuse in the Maldives

Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC) has unveiled the HOPE Campaign website, a dedicated platform aimed at addressing child abuse in the Maldives. The launch coincided with the World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse and World Children’s Day, marking a significant step in ARC’s efforts to protect vulnerable children and provide resources for those affected.

The website, designed to raise awareness, foster reporting, and support survivors of abuse, offers accessible tools and educational materials. It aims to empower individuals and communities by providing guidance on recognising the signs of abuse and actionable steps to create safer spaces for children.

Speaking at the event, ARC’s Managing Director, Muruthala Moosa, stressed the importance of collective responsibility in safeguarding children, emphasising the fundamental right of every child to grow up in an environment free from violence, exploitation, and neglect.

The website’s launch was celebrated during a unique photo exhibition hosted by UNICEF, showcasing the Maldives through the eyes of children. The initiative was funded through the Australian Alumni Small Grants programme, facilitated by Ms. Asima Abdul Gadir. ARC also acknowledged the vital support from UNICEF and the Maldives Police Service in addressing violence against children.

This initiative reflects ARC’s unwavering commitment to creating a society where children can thrive without fear or harm. The HOPE Campaign calls on families, individuals, and communities to actively participate in building safer environments for children.
