The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, held a high-level meeting with His Highness Sayyed Asaad bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs of Oman, during his official visit to the Sultanate.
Dr. Khaleel conveyed warm greetings from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the Maldivian people to Omani leadership, while His Highness reciprocated greetings from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said. The meeting reaffirmed the strong ties between the two nations and highlighted the shared commitment to further enhancing bilateral relations.
Discussions focused on strengthening economic cooperation in key sectors, including investment, trade, tourism, and fisheries. Both sides recognised the potential to elevate the Maldives-Oman partnership through initiatives that foster mutual economic growth and collaboration.
Dr. Khaleel expressed appreciation for Oman’s longstanding support to the Maldives, particularly during challenging times, and underscored the importance of continuing this partnership to address shared priorities.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, alongside Dr. Khaleel’s delegation, which included senior officials from the Maldivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The discussions are expected to pave the way for new opportunities to deepen cooperation between the two countries.
