Plans to develop a new passenger terminal at B. Dharavandhoo Airport are moving ahead through a contractor financing model, as Island Aviation Services Ltd. seeks private-sector interest for the project.
The company has opened the Expression of Interest process for the terminal development, inviting interested parties to register their intent before the formal proposal stage. The project will be carried out in line with the specifications and requirements set out in the Request for Proposal document.
The development points to continued attention on domestic airport infrastructure, particularly in atolls where air connectivity supports both local mobility and tourism activity. Dharavandhoo Airport serves as a key gateway for Baa Atoll, linking the region with the capital and nearby resort operations.
According to the notice issued by Island Aviation, interested parties must submit their completed Expression of Interest form by email before 4 June 2026 at 23:59 Maldives time. Only parties that register within the stated deadline will be eligible to submit proposals for the project.
