Maldivian Looks to Strengthen Regional Presence with New Agent Partnerships

Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, is seeking agents in Bangkok, Thailand, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as it looks to expand its newly launched wide-body operations. The airline has opened the opportunity for interested partners in these two cities until Tuesday.

This move follows Maldivian’s recent commencement of flights to China with its latest addition, the wide-body Airbus A330-200. The airline currently operates to three Chinese cities—Chengdu, Beijing, and Shanghai—marking a significant step in its international expansion.

The acquisition of the A330-200 aligns with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s electoral pledge to introduce two wide-body aircraft to the airline’s fleet. The government has also announced plans to acquire another wide-body aircraft, with the goal of launching flights to European destinations by October this year.

As Maldivian seeks to strengthen its international network, the addition of agents in Malaysia and Thailand is expected to enhance its presence in key regional markets.
