MMPRC and Emirates Deepen Collaboration to Promote Maldives Globally

The Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC) and Emirates have renewed their strategic partnership to jointly promote the Maldives as a premier global travel destination through the airline’s international network.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the Arabian Travel Market 2025 in Dubai by Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and Managing Director of MMPRC, and Essa Sulaiman Ahmad, Emirates’ Senior Vice President for Commercial Operations, West Asia and Indian Ocean. The signing was witnessed by the Minister of Tourism and Environment Thoriq Ibrahim.

The renewed agreement aims to further boost inbound tourism to the Maldives, with plans to promote the destination through customised travel packages, joint marketing campaigns, and collaborations with travel agencies and tour operators in key global markets. The two sides will also explore familiarisation trips to showcase the Maldives’ appeal and support business and trade development through Emirates’ cargo services.

Speaking at the signing, Ibrahim Shiuree expressed confidence that the strengthened partnership would elevate the Maldives’ position as a top-of-mind destination for travellers worldwide, combining MMPRC’s destination expertise with Emirates’ extensive reach.

Emirates has been a longstanding partner in the Maldives’ tourism growth, having operated flights to the Maldives since 1987. Last year, the airline transported around 360,000 passengers to the country. Emirates currently operates 28 weekly flights to the Maldives and plans to introduce retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft featuring Premium Economy cabins from June 2025.

The Maldives recognised Emirates’ contribution to its tourism sector in 2022 by awarding the airline the President’s Tourism Gold Award for outstanding support in promoting the destination.

The renewal of the partnership reflects the Maldives’ ongoing efforts to strengthen its global tourism outreach and ensure continued growth in international arrivals.
