The Maldives and India held the second meeting of the High-Level Core Group (HLCG) in New Delhi yesterday, continuing efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel led the Maldivian delegation, which included senior officials from the President’s Office, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the Ministry of Finance and Planning and the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology.
The meeting built on the outcomes of the inaugural HLCG session held in Malé on January 29. That first meeting laid the groundwork for structured discussions under the joint vision document, India and Maldives: A Vision for Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership, endorsed by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their meeting in October last year.
Both sides engaged in constructive dialogue across a broad spectrum of areas, including transport and connectivity, agriculture, fisheries, trade, economic cooperation, health, people-to-people ties, capacity building and training, and defence and security.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said this meeting reflected the shared commitment of both nations to deepen strategic and economic ties through regular dialogue and practical collaboration.
