National carrier Maldivian has announced the operation of 111 flights in the lead-up to the Eid-ul-Adha holidays, significantly boosting connectivity across the country during the busy travel period.
Island Aviation Services, which operates the airline, confirmed that flights to all 17 domestic destinations have been extended from 1 to 9 May to meet increased demand. The highest number of trips this Eid will be made to Laamu Kadhdhoo, one of the most popular routes during major holiday periods. The airline said it routinely adjusts its schedule to accommodate spikes in travel during national holidays, to ensure demand is met.
In addition to its domestic operations, Maldivian is operating flights to three cities in China, three in India, and Malaysia. The airline’s fleet currently includes 25 aircraft—comprising five ATRs and 11 seaplanes dedicated to domestic routes.
With Eid-ul-Adha expected to drive significant passenger movement, the increased flight schedule is set to play a key role in supporting smooth and efficient travel across the Maldives.
