Maldivian Simplifies Booking Process, Removes ID Upload Requirement

Starting 1st August 2025, passengers travelling with Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, will no longer need to upload or present ID cards or passport copies at the time of booking or purchasing tickets.

The move is aimed at improving convenience and streamlining the travel experience, as part of the airline’s ongoing efforts to make air travel more efficient and customer-friendly. Passengers are still required to provide identification details that exactly match their travel documents when making a booking. Tickets will be issued based on the provided name and associated information.

Any mismatches in names can be corrected free of charge on the same day by contacting Maldivian’s ticketing office, emailing cc@iasl.aero, or calling the 24/7 Call Centre at 1671.

Although document uploads are no longer required during booking, passengers must still present valid identification during check-in, security checks, and boarding. For international travel, a passport remains mandatory.

The update aligns with Maldivian’s broader strategy to enhance the overall customer journey, while maintaining security and operational standards. With this change, the airline hopes to offer passengers a faster and more private booking experience that better reflects the warm hospitality associated with travel in the Maldives.
