Tourist arrivals to the Maldives in August have shown steady growth, with 158,434 visitors recorded between 1 and 24 August 2025. This represents a 7.6 percent increase compared to the same period last year, when 147,269 arrivals were registered.
The figures highlight continued momentum in the peak summer holiday period, with daily arrivals averaging around 6,600 during the month. This keeps August in line with the stronger performance seen across the year, as total arrivals from January to 24 August reached 1.45 million, marking a 9.2 percent growth over 2024.
Resorts continued to dominate the sector, accommodating nearly three-quarters of tourists this year. Guesthouses, however, maintained a significant share with more than 21 percent of arrivals, reflecting the diversification of the tourism market beyond luxury resorts.
China remains the top source market in 2025 with over 228,000 arrivals, followed by Russia and the United Kingdom. European markets including Italy and Germany also held strong positions, underlining the Maldives’ enduring appeal across multiple regions.
With August arrivals climbing and projections for the rest of the year still favourable, the Maldives tourism sector appears set to maintain its growth trajectory despite global economic uncertainties.
