Greater Bay Airlines has launched direct flights between Hong Kong and the Maldives, adding a new route to the country’s international air network and expanding connectivity with East Asia.
The airline’s inaugural flight arrived at Velana International Airport yesterday, where passengers were received on arrival. The carrier will operate daily services using a Boeing 737-800 until the 25th of this month.
The route strengthens travel links between Hong Kong and the Maldives at a time when airlines are steadily restoring and diversifying connections to the destination. The service provides a direct option for travellers from Hong Kong, reducing reliance on transit routes through regional hubs.
Greater Bay Airlines is currently the only airline operating direct flights between Hong Kong and the Maldives, positioning the route as a distinct addition to the Maldives’ aviation landscape.
