Dhiraagu will bring back its Ramadan kite-flying initiative to Malé this week, with GudiFest scheduled to take place at Usfasgandu on Friday evening.
The one-hour event, set for 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, is open to children of all ages. Participants will receive complimentary kites, with the company aiming to create a shared family activity during the Ramadan period.
Launched in 2023, GudiFest was introduced to encourage children to take part in the traditional practice of flying kites during Ramadan evenings. The initiative has since become an annual activity and is planned to be held across other islands this year as well.
Dhiraagu stated that the event forms part of its broader Ramadan engagement efforts, which include public activities and promotional campaigns. The company has also positioned the festival within its wider focus on preserving Dhivehi cultural practices and supporting community-based traditions.
