
The Maldives has signalled its intention to sustain close engagement with the United Arab Emirates following a farewell call by the UAE’s Ambassador, as diplomatic ties between the two countries continue to evolve.
His Excellency Sheikh Rahma bin Abdulrahman Alshamsi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Maldives, paid a farewell call on His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at the President’s Office yesterday.
During the meeting, President Muizzu conveyed appreciation for the Ambassador’s support during his tenure, noting progress made in strengthening bilateral relations between the Maldives and the UAE. He reiterated the Government’s commitment to maintaining close collaboration with the UAE and expressed optimism that cooperation would continue to deepen in the coming months.
Ambassador Alshamsi, in turn, acknowledged the progress and development achieved in the Maldives under the current Administration.
Both sides concluded the meeting by reaffirming their shared commitment to further strengthening the longstanding relationship between the two countries.
