Ooredoo Maldives has introduced a new feature called “Karaa Quest” to its seasonal #OoredooKaraaFelhun digital game, adding an interactive element that allows players to explore locations and earn points for their teams.
The feature creates a map-based experience where players can locate virtual watermelons, known locally as karaa, placed across different areas based on their location. Participants can move around their surroundings, select the watermelons they find and slice them to collect points for their chosen team.
Once a watermelon is sliced, it is replaced with the flag of the player’s team on the map. The flag marks the area as claimed territory and contributes to the overall score in the competition.
Players can continue exploring the map to find additional karaa, allowing them to increase their team’s score and expand the areas controlled by their team. The feature introduces an element of exploration and strategy to the game, encouraging participants to move around their communities while competing with friends, family and others during the Ramadan season.
#OoredooKaraaFelhun has developed into a popular annual digital activity among Ooredoo customers, combining interactive gameplay with team competition and rewards.
The new Karaa Quest feature can be accessed through the Ooredoo App, where players can join a team, slice karaa, accumulate points and compete for prizes.
Ooredoo Maldives states that the initiative forms part of its efforts to create digital experiences that engage communities and promote participation through technology.
