Abdulla Yaasir Appointed Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation

- Abdulla Yasir has been appointed CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation on 26 August.
- He replaces Ibrahim Shiuree, who resigned a day earlier, becoming the third leader under the current government.
- Yasir brings over 25 years of tourism experience and currently presides over the Entrepreneurs Association of Maldives.
Abdulla Yaasir has been appointed Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation, taking charge of the country’s tourism promotion body ahead of major international marketing activities planned for 2027.
The Privatisation and Corporatisation Board appointed Yaasir on 26 August, a day after Ibrahim Shiuree resigned from the position. The reason for Shiuree’s departure has not been disclosed.
Yaasir becomes the third person appointed to lead the corporation under the current government, following Shiuree and Fathimath Thaufeeg.
He has more than 25 years of experience across tourism, hospitality, corporate management and destination development. His career includes management and board-level positions in the tourism industry, while he currently serves as President of the Entrepreneurs Association of Maldives.
Yaasir succeeds Shiuree, who had led the organisation since June 2024. During Shiuree’s tenure, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation was rebranded as Visit Maldives Corporation.
