Soneva has appointed Akira Shiota as General Manager of Soneva Secret, its 13-villa private island resort in the Makunudhoo Atoll.
Akira Shiota brings more than 25 years of hospitality leadership experience to the role. His career includes opening and managing resorts across Japan, Bali and the Maldives.
His approach to hospitality centres on creating memorable guest experiences while recognising the industry’s responsibility to protect and restore the natural environment. This aligns with Soneva’s focus on combining luxury hospitality with environmental stewardship.
Located at the westernmost tip of the Maldives, Soneva Secret is the smallest of the resort group’s three properties in the country. The resort offers 13 villas and provides personalised stays designed around individual guest preferences.
Soneva also operates Soneva Fushi in Baa Atoll and Soneva Jani in Noonu Atoll. The hospitality group was founded in 1995.
