Ambassador of India to Maldives pays a courtesy visit to the Tourism Minister

Ambassador of India to Maldives, Sunjay Sudhir has paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Tourism, Ali Waheed upon the occasion of Maldives achieving 1.5 million tourist target for the year.

The Ambassador congratulated the Minister on achieving the 1.5 million tourist target for the year and discussed ways to increase arrivals in 2020 to reach the 2 million target announced by the Minister at the special ceremony held at VIA yesterday.

According to official statistics compiled by the Ministry of Tourism, the country with the second-largest tourism market for Maldives is India, accounting for 11,265 visitors by the end of September this year. This is a 14.8 percent increase compared to the 5,244 that arrived the year prior.
