American lifestyle and performance footwear company, Skechers has opened an outlet in the capital city of Maldives, Male’.
The outlet was officially inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Ahmed Mahloof along with leading athletes Hassan Saaid and Mariyam Abdul Kareem (Mary).
Located at Majeedhee Magu near City Council, Skechers offers athletic and casual styles for men, women and children as well as performance shoes.
Founded in 1992, Skechers company offers two footwear categories: a lifestyle division that includes Skechers Memory Foam, the charity line BOBS and Relaxed Fit comfort shoes and a performance division that includes Skechers GOrun and Skechers GOwalk footwear.
Abdulla Mohamed, Skechers Maldivian outlet in-charge said that the company decided to open an outlet in the Maldives due to the demand they received for Skechers brand during the 3 years they sold it under a store-within-a-store concept.
“Though our community is small, people do use world-renowned brands so we believe bringing Skechers to the Maldives is beneficial to the whole community as it provides a wide range of comfortable footwear.”
