The developers said the mariculture component would focus on the cultivation and export of grouper, sea cucumber and seagrass. The project is also expected to draw on Indian suppliers and technical expertise for marine solar systems, smart-grid technology and engineering services.

Dr Sailesh Lachu Hiranandani, Chairman of the Emerald Group, is financing and providing strategic direction for the development, according to the companies. Mohamed Fayaz, Managing Director of Blue Synergy Investments and a former Deputy Commissioner of Police, will lead operations in the Maldives.

The companies said Sanjay Shravan helped establish the partnership, while Mahendra Joshi will support operational implementation.

The developers have presented the project as a model for renewable-powered island communities, with anticipated contributions to employment and wider economic activity. A construction commencement date has not been announced.
