Bank of Maldives (BML) has introduced a monthly limit of USD 3,500 per customer for USD withdrawals from ATMs, adding a monthly ceiling alongside its existing daily withdrawal limit.
The new limit takes effect on 1 October 2026. The daily limit remains USD 1,600 per card, while the monthly cap applies per customer.
BML said the change forms part of its wider transition towards digital banking and reduced reliance on physical cash. The bank described this direction as a means of supporting faster, safer and more convenient payments and a more efficient financial system.
The bank said it has invested significantly in digital channels that allow customers to carry out everyday banking without cash. These include BML Mobile Banking and Internet Banking for payments, transfers and account management, alongside card and contactless payments at merchants in the Maldives and abroad. Customers can also send funds instantly to other accounts.
