Bank of Maldives (BML) continues to support people with mobility impairments across the Maldives with a donation of additional 33 motorised wheelchairs.
With this donation, the program which began in 2017 has now seen the successful delivery of over 200 motorised wheelchairs across the Maldives, enhancing the quality of life for people living with physical disabilities.
Bank of Maldives CEO, Karl Stumke commented, “Supporting vulnerable communities has always been important to the bank. The wheelchair donation program has been instrumental in improving the lives of so many disabled people and their families. I would like to express my sincere thanks to our staff for their commitment to delivering the wheelchairs across the nation.”
BML continues to support people with disabilities through various programs. Most recently, the bank has donated educational tools to aid Special Education Need students in 10 schools. BML has also partnered with Maldives Deaf Association to conduct special activities on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Earlier this year, the bank also supported the association to develop a sign language dictionary as part of its strategy to empower and promote the rights of the deaf community in Maldives.
Recently, the bank has supported Maldives Association for Persons with Disabilities to run its accessible transportation program for people with disabilities.
