Capital Market Development Authority (CMDA) as the regulator in Maldives is carrying out activities in celebration of the World Investor Week, conducted from 3rd to 9th October 2022. World Investor Week (WIW) is a week-long campaign promoted by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) to raise awareness about the importance of investor education and protection.
The opening ceremony of the WIW activities in Maldives was inaugurated by the Chief Executive Officer of CMDA, Mr. Mohamed Hussain Maniku. His speech was focused on the importance of investor protection, specifically the retail investors as well as the institutional investors. This year’s activities are also conducted in partnership with financial institutions in Maldives. They are Maldives Monetary Authority, Maldives Pension Administration Office, Maldives Stock Exchange, SME Development Finance Corporation, Maldives Islamic Bank, Bank of Maldives and Allied Insurance Company.
Some of the activities that were planned for the week include a week-long capital market quiz through social media for general public, financial literacy programme for college students, and a programme for journalists and editors about the disciplines of media reporting of financial developments in the country.
