Dhaalu Atoll Kudahuvadhoo airport is all set to commence its operations on Wednesday 28th June 2017. This airport was developed by Riolo Investments where almost MVR 20 Million was invested in the development of it.
According to an official of Island Aviation, currently, daily 1 flight is scheduled to be operated to and from Male’ and the tickets are set to be sold at MVR 888 one way; hence, tickets are available in different fares.
The first test flight to this airport was conducted on June 1st 2017 where the Minister of Tourism, Moosa Zameer and Senior members of the government joined. This airport comprises a spacious area of 62 hectares and a runway that is 1800 meters long.
This project was handed over to Riolo Investments in the year 2013 on contract basis and the practical works commenced on 2014. This is the only domestic airport developed in Maldives which will offer their services to private jets.
According to Island Aviation, they are aiming to have daily 3 to 4 flights operating to Dhaalu Airport.
