Dhaka Flights to Remain Suspended Until 15th July: Maldivian

National carrier, Maldivian has announced that its flights between the Maldives and Bangladeshi capital Dhaka will remain suspended until 15th July 2021.

Maldivian had initially suspended its Dhaka flights on 4th May, and had been scheduled to resume the flights on 1st July 2021. However, the airline said in an announcement today that the flights will remain suspended until 15th July 2021.

Maldivian halted its Dhaka flights following the decision of the Bangladeshi government to suspend all passenger flights between Maldives and Bangladesh in an effort to reduce the country’s rising COVID-19 cases.

Bangladesh went into a strict nationwide lockdown on Monday to curb the deadly surge in COVID-19 cases. The country reported 119 deaths on Sunday, its highest ever death toll in a day.
