Dhiraagu has introduced two Ramadan-focused donation initiatives through its DhiraaguPay platform, allowing customers to contribute directly to meal distribution efforts and family support programmes across the Maldives.
The initiatives, titled Donate a Meal and Donate to a Family, are designed to facilitate community contributions through digital payments during the holy month.
Under the Donate a Meal initiative, Dhiraagu has partnered with Mission for Migrant Workers Maldives to support the distribution of meal packs to migrant workers near mosques in the Greater Malé Region. Dhiraagu has contributed 1,000 meal packs to formalise the programme, while customers are able to donate additional meals at MVR 60 each via DhiraaguPay.
The second initiative, Donate to a Family, is being carried out in collaboration with Mom’s Aid. Through this arrangement, customers can support the NGO’s Ramadan Aid programme, which provides care baskets and iftar packs to families in need across the Maldives. Dhiraagu is supporting 100 families with care baskets valued at MVR 1,200 each. The baskets contain essential food items and are targeted towards single mothers and families caring for children with disabilities. Customers may contribute any amount through the platform.
Donations can be made by selecting the relevant cause from featured service tabs within the DhiraaguPay application. Funds are transferred directly to the respective non-governmental organisations.
The company stated that the initiatives aim to make charitable giving more accessible during Ramadan by integrating donation options into its digital payment platform.
