A few months ago, Dhiraagu released a heart touching video which showed us a weeping ocean. The video was released as part of the company’s CSR initiative #ForTheOceans to highlight the effects of throwing plastic bags into the ocean.

As we celebrate World Oceans Day, Dhiraagu has released yet another impactful video to address using reusable bags #ForTheOceans. The hashtag, which is part of their joint campaign with Parley Maldives, came into existence in 2016 as part of the campaign to replace plastic bags with reusable ones. The campaign awares and urges customers to ditch single-use plastics.

To further support this movement and motivate others to join in on it, Dhiraagu has given away reusable bags to all its employees. Dhiraagu stated that the main objective behind giving reusable bags was to urge their employees to be environmentally responsible, even as an individual.

In addition to their employees, Dhiraagu has also made the bags available for customers through some of the local supermarts, as well as from their head office and regional operational centres, thus hoping that this would urge more people to use them.

Marketing Communications Manager, Bishara Hameed stated that the company has always given importance to help the environment. The campaign aims to stop the habit of throwing plastic bags into the ocean and to voice out the impacts of single-use plastics.
