Dhiraagu has extended the registration deadline for the Dhiraagu Malé Open Swimming Competition 2026 to August 9, giving more swimmers the opportunity to take part in the competition at Rasfannu later this month.
Organised by Swim Maldives, the competition will take place on August 21 and 22 at Rasfannu in Malé.
According to Dhiraagu, the event aims to promote open water swimming, encourage wider participation in the sport and raise awareness of the importance of protecting the Maldives’ marine environment.
Participants can compete in the 1km, 500m and 250m races. This year’s competition will also feature a new 500m Team Relay, allowing friends, families and swimming clubs to compete together.
Last year’s competition attracted 350 swimmers from across the Maldives, ranging in age from six to over 70.
Dhiraagu said it remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote healthy lifestyles, strengthen community engagement and create opportunities for people to participate in sports and recreational activities.
Registrations remain open until August 9 through Swim Maldives.
