Dhiraagu has unveiled a brand-new category for this year’s Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) – the Office & Resort 5K Team Event. This new category is designed to provide employees from various resorts, government entities, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and private sector organisations the opportunity to participate as teams and represent their workplaces in a competitive environment.
Teams of four can register for the 5K Team Event, with a registration fee of MVR 250 per participant. Organisations are encouraged to register multiple teams, with the winning teams determined by the cumulative finish time of all team members who complete the race within the 45-minute cut-off time.
Prizes for the top teams in the Office & Resort 5K Team Event are as follows:
• Winning Team: MVR 10,000
• Runner-up Team: MVR 8,000
• Second Runner-up Team: MVR 6,000
Teams can consist of all-male, all-female, or mixed-gender participants. However, participants in this category can only compete in the Office & Resort 5K Team Event.
The Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race, the first and only international run in the Maldives, is listed in the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) World Running calendar and features a World Athletics-certified race route. The 2024 edition marks the 15th anniversary of the event, which is scheduled to take place on 25 October 2024 at Central Park, Hulhumale’.
As in previous years, DMRR 2024 will focus on child protection, a key area of Dhiraagu’s corporate social responsibility efforts. The race will serve as a platform for NGOs working in child protection to raise awareness and funds for their causes.
