Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race 2024 Opens for Registrations

Dhiraagu has officially opened registrations for the 15th edition of the Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) 2024. The event, which has become the largest and most anticipated running event in the Maldives, is scheduled to take place on Friday, 25th October 2024, at Central Park, Hulhumalé.

This year’s race will feature several categories, including the 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon, along with a new Office/Resort category. The introduction of this new category aims to encourage teams from various resorts and offices to participate, allowing them to represent their organisations at a competitive level.

Participants in this year’s race will have the opportunity to compete for a total prize pool of MVR 256,000, continuing the tradition of awarding attractive cash prizes to winners across different categories.

The Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race holds the distinction of being the first and only international running event in the Maldives, and it is listed in the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) World Running calendar. The race route is certified by World Athletics, and the event regularly attracts participants from around the globe, with last year’s race seeing runners from 27 countries.

Beyond its focus on promoting a healthy lifestyle and a culture of competitive running, DMRR 2024 is also dedicated to the social cause of child protection. As part of Dhiraagu’s corporate social responsibility programme, the event will provide a platform for NGOs working in the area of child protection to raise awareness and funds. Dhiraagu will award five grants totaling MVR 200,000 to the top five endorsed NGOs nominated by participants during registration. Additionally, MVR 100 from each participant’s registration fee, along with all proceeds from special bib number sales, will be donated to the endorsed partner NGOs.

Registrations for the event are now open and will close once the limit of 4,000 participants is reached. Interested individuals and teams can register via the official website, www.dmrr.mv.

Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race 2024 promises to be a significant event, bringing together runners from across the Maldives and the world, all while supporting an important social cause.
