The state-funded Basic Pension scheme accounted for the largest share of September’s total payouts, distributing over MVR 128 million to 27,313 beneficiaries. Funded directly by the state, the scheme operates with the targeted objective of alleviating old-age poverty.

In addition, the Maldives Retirement Pension Scheme disbursed over MVR 14 million to 2,761 beneficiaries. Financed through accumulated scheme funds, this initiative aims to provide a 50 per cent income replacement rate for individuals upon reaching retirement.

The Office further outlined payments administered under broader state employee retirement benefit schemes and long-term service categories.

For retired public sector personnel, the government allocated over MVR 27 million to support 4,849 beneficiaries under the Retirement Benefits of State Employees programme. Furthermore, state disbursements under the Long Term Service Pensions and Allowances category surpassed MVR 4 million, providing coverage to 2,209 eligible individuals.

The Pension Office affirms that these statistics are released on a monthly basis to ensure transparency regarding beneficiary reach and the administration of national social protection funds.
