At a special press conference held at Dhiraagu Head Office today, Dhiraagu announced that this year’s Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) will take place on 27 October 2023 (Friday) at Central Park, Hulhumale’. This is the 14th edition of the Maldives’ largest and most anticipated run.
“We’re delighted to announce the return of Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race – a much look-forwarded event amongst the public. In 2007, DMRR had pioneered mass participation races and has set the trend for running in the Maldives,” stated Mohamed Mirshan Hassan, Director, Brand and Marketing Communications at Dhiraagu. “This year, we have a brand-new route for participants and for the first time ever we are introducing a half marathon at DMRR. Along with increased prize money we have planned a full day of exciting events and a variety of activities.”
DMRR is the largest annual run held in the Maldives, bringing together people and communities all over the nation and abroad. It is the first and only international run held in the Maldives listed in the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) World Running calendar with a World Athletics-certified race route.
Similar to previous years, DMRR 2023 is also dedicated towards the social cause of child protection, one of the key focus areas of Dhiraagu’s corporate social responsibility programme. The run will provide a platform for NGOs working in the area of child protection to raise awareness and funds for their cause.
Dhiraagu will award five grants of equal amounts amongst the top five endorsed NGOs nominated by participants at the time of registration to help kick-start their planned activities. In addition to this, Dhiraagu will be donating MVR 100 from each participant registration and all proceeds from special bib number sales in equal shares to the endorsed partner NGOs.
Registrations for DMRR will be opened tomorrow and will close at 23:59hrs on 30 August 2023 or once the limit of 4,000 participants is reached.
