Dhiraagu Opens Registration for Maldives Road Race 2026 With New Team Categories

Dhiraagu has opened registrations for the Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) 2026, scheduled to take place on Friday, 20 November, at Hulhumalé Central Park.
The company announced the opening at a press conference held at Dhiraagu Head Office on Wednesday, attended by senior officials from Dhiraagu and key event partners, including the Athletics Association of Maldives, Maldives Police Service and Housing Development Corporation (HDC).
According to the company, DMRR 2026 will introduce four new team categories for corporate teams, resorts, running clubs and colleges and universities. Each team will consist of four runners, with a champion team to be selected from each category.
Participants can register for the Half Marathon, 10K, 5K Open and the new team categories through the DMRR registration platform. The event will offer a total of MVR 296,000 in cash prizes across all race categories.
Speaking at the press conference, Dhiraagu Director of Brand and Marketing Communications Mirshan Hassan said the company aims to bring more people together through running while promoting health, fitness, competitive spirit and community engagement.
DMRR is the Maldives’ first international run and is listed on the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) World Running Calendar. Its race route is also certified by World Athletics.
As the country’s largest annual running event, DMRR attracts participants and communities from across the Maldives and overseas.
DMRR 2026 will continue the event’s focus on child protection, which Dhiraagu identifies as a key area of its social responsibility programme. The event will provide a platform for NGOs to advocate for children’s rights and raise funds for their initiatives.
Dhiraagu will donate MVR 200,000 to the five endorsed NGOs receiving the highest number of participant nominations during registration. The company will also donate MVR 100 from every participant registration, alongside proceeds from special bib number sales, to be distributed equally among the endorsed partner NGOs.
The 2025 edition raised MVR 685,000 for 13 partner NGOs to support initiatives aimed at creating a positive impact in communities.
Registration for DMRR 2026 will remain open until the participant limit of 4,000 is reached.
