Dhiraagu, the leading telecommunication service provider in Maldives had a successful third quarter with a recorded profit of MVR 210 million.
According to the financial reports, the third quarter of 2017 saw the company financially posting revenues of MVR 652 million, 4% more than the previous quarter and 6% more compared to the same period of 2016. Income growth was mainly owing to mobile data, broadband and enterprise. Net profit went up by 1% over the previous quarter and 3% compared to third quarter of 2016, as a result of higher revenues. The company also returned an interim dividend of MVR 453m to shareholders.
The period has also been an active period for Dhiraagu, in terms of promotional activities, launching of services and CSR activities.
Some of the highlighted activities of the company are participation as the main sponsor of Dhiraagu Guest Houses Conference 2017, launching of Guesthouses TV, Launching of Yonder Music Maldives, launching of RB Quest, introducing MNU UniFlex package and mobile and Data promotions on special occasions.
On the community and environment side, Dhiraagu partnered with UNDP to carry out Film 4 Change project in order to empower youth. The company was also a key partner in implementing Youth Leadership Program (YLP) and Techstars Startup Weekend Maldives. Furthermore, the company also carried out a coastal cleanup program and launched a reusable bag at Guest House Conference to support the Maldives Getaways’ Ban the Bag campaign.
