Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer has announced that the economic downfall due to the COVID-19 pandemic may cause MVR 12 billion in budget deficit.
Speaking at the press conference held today (1st April) at Dharubaaruge, the Minister said that the government income has decreased.
The government has imposed a temporary ban on the arrival of tourists, which as caused a huge toll on the Maldivian economy.
Government and relevant authorities are taking necessary measures to overcome this crisis.
