On 1st October 2022, the Ministry of Economic Development launched Women in Sustainable Entrepreneurship (W.I.S.E.).
State Minister Neeza Imad at Hdh. Hanimaadhoo launched the program, which is aimed to increase the role of women in entrepreneurship roles. In the coming months, the program is planned to be conducted in a series of sessions in all of the islands.
At the first session, the attendants were informed that women entrepreneurs will have job opportunities available through the Ministry and agencies.
The National Skills and Development Authority will conduct the W.I.S.E. programs, and the attendants that pass will receive Certificate 3 of the Entrepreneurship Standard.
The program will include discussions regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and businesses that were affected by it will be given the opportunity with Self-Employment Grant Program. Under the program, 40% will be awarded to women entrepreneurs.
