The Maldives has formally accredited its first non-resident ambassador to Serbia as the two countries seek greater cooperation in education, tourism and trade.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Aminath Shabeena presented her Letters of Credence to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić at the Palace of Serbia on 14 September.
During a meeting following the ceremony, Ambassador Shabeena conveyed greetings from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, the Maldivian Government and the people of the Maldives. She also expressed her commitment to advancing relations between the two countries.
Ambassador Shabeena later attended a dinner hosted by Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić for newly accredited non-resident ambassadors.
She also met Jelena Marković Krstić, Head of the Asia, Australia and Pacific Department at Serbia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Their discussions covered potential cooperation in areas including education, tourism and trade. She will serve as the Maldives’ non-resident ambassador to Serbia while residing in Malé.
