Flight Movement in VIA Increased by 8% in January

Flight movement in Velana International Airport (VIA) has increased by 8% during the month of January, 2019. The tourist arrival count has also increased during January.

A flight movement of 5,554 has been noted in January 2019 while the count was 5,132 in January 2018 as per the Monthly Economic Indicator Report by Ministry of Finance. Among the 5,554 flights, 2,834 flights were domestic flights while 2,720 were international flights.

As per the statistics, the flight movements in VIA has been increasing every year. A total of 50,338 flight movements were noted in the year 2016 while the count was 51,696 in the year 2017 which was an increase of 2.6%.
