The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Abdulla Shahid, in his capacity as the President-elect of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly has concluded his official visit to Japan from 26-28 August 2021.
During the visit, Minister Shahid made a courtesy call on Hon. Suga Yoshihide, Prime Minister of Japan, and also met with Hon. Motegi Toshimitsu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
The visit provided an opportunity for both the Minister, in his capacity as the President-elect, and the Government of Japan to hold close consultations on enhancing cooperation within the auspices of the United Nations General Assembly.
The visit also focused on bilateral aspects of the relationship between Maldives and Japan.
