The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) reports a significant increase in international flights scheduled to the Maldives in January of this year. This momentum aligns with a rise in overall tourist arrivals.
According to the MMA’s monthly statistics, a total of 1,630 international flights arrived in the Maldives in January. Of these, 1,418 were scheduled flights, with the remaining 212 classified as general, unscheduled flights (including airline charters and private jets).
This represents a notable increase compared to flight movements in January 2023 (data for comparison would be needed for specific figures).
The Ministry of Tourism confirms this upward trend, reporting 192,385 tourist arrivals in January, marking an 11.5% increase compared to the same period last year (data for comparison needed).
Operational bed capacity for tourists in January reached 61,700, with an impressive resort occupancy rate of 71.7%.
