China’s Fujian Province and the Maldives government have collaborated on a special forum designed to increase tourist arrivals from the Chinese province. The event brought together Fujian Province officials, key figures within the Maldivian tourism industry, and stakeholders, including tour operators from both countries.
The forum provided a platform for networking and discussions, particularly in light of Xiamen Air’s recent launch of direct flights from Xiamen City in Fujian Province to the Maldives. A primary focus was placed on establishing connections between tour operators in both countries.
During the forum, agreements were signed between four Chinese and Maldivian tour operators. These agreements anticipate contributing to a significant increase in tourist arrivals from China’s Fujian Province.
The forum, attended by 90 stakeholders from the Maldives and China, underscores the growing collaboration between the two regions. Following discussions during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s official visit to China, Xiamen Air initiated charter flights to the Maldives and recently launched its inaugural flight carrying 230 tourists. The airline’s actions demonstrate a commitment to bolstering tourism connectivity. The Maldivian government aims to further increase tourist arrivals from China.
