Registration for the fifth edition of the Girls to Code programme, spearheaded by Dhiraagu and Women in Tech Maldives, is now open for young girls in Dhidhdhoo. The initiative, in line with International Girls in ICT Day, aims to bolster awareness and foster participation in the tech sector.
Girls to Code is a collaborative effort aimed at empowering young girls and women through coding education. By imparting coding and digital skills, the programme seeks to ignite interest in technology and promote greater female involvement in the field. With a regional focus, it also endeavors to raise awareness within various island communities.
Throughout the programme, participants will gain proficiency in coding and explore various technological solutions, including webpage development and mini-game creation. Girls aged 10 to 13, attending middle and secondary school, are encouraged to register, regardless of prior coding experience.
Interested individuals can sign up for the programme by submitting an online form before the deadline on May 28, 2024. The programme is scheduled to run from late June to September 2024.
This marks the fifth iteration of the Girls to Code series, which previously targeted Fuvahmulah City, Thinadhoo City, Kulhudhuffushi City, and Laamu Atoll in its earlier editions.
