H.E. Mrs. Takeuchi Midori, Ambassador of Japan to Maldives officially handed over the completed new building in Rathafandhoo School to the School Principal Mr. Hassan Zareer under the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Project at a ceremony held in Rathafandhoo School. Mr. Moosa Naeem, Senior Policy Director and officials from the Ministry of Education and the school management team joined the ceremony.
This assistance is in line with the Grant Contract signed between the Embassy of Japan in Maldives and Rathafandhoo School on February 19, 2019. Under the grant, 81,757 USD was donated to construct a science laboratory and an audiovisual room to ensure quality education for the students enrolled in the school. Notably, this project enabled the proper environment for students to study science and languages with enhanced educational settings.
The GGP is part of the Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) implemented by the Embassy of Japan in Maldives in order to empower people at the grassroots level. Since 1996, the GGP has been implemented in broad areas such as education, environment, health, transportation and energy in order to contribute to the sustainable development of the Maldives.
