H.E. Mrs. Takeuchi Midori, Ambassador of Japan to Maldives has officially handed over the completed 4 classrooms in Hdh. Atoll Nolhivaranfaru School, to the School Principal Mr. Ahmed Ali under the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Project at a ceremony held in Hdh. Nolhivaranfaru School. Minister of State for Education, Ms. Fathimath Naseer together with officials from the Ministry of Education and School Management team joined the ceremony.
This assistance is in line with the Grant Contract signed between the Embassy of Japan in Maldives and Hdh. Nolhivaranfaru School on March 10, 2016. Under the grant, 90,850 USD, which is approximately 1.4 million Maldivian Rufiyya was donated to upgrade the school building (construction of 4 classrooms) to cater to the increasing student population in the island.
The GGP is part of the Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) implemented by the Embassy of Japan in Maldives in order to empower people at the grassroots level. Since 1996, the GGP has been implemented in broad areas such as education, environment, health, transportation and energy in order to contribute to sustainable development of the Maldives.
