The government has issued to discontinue giving parking tickets to illegally parked vehicles. The Acting Commissioner of Police Mr. Mohamed Hameed, stated that they have stopped giving out parking tickets to the violators of traffic regulations as per the request of the government.
Mr. Hameed further carried on this notion by stating that they need to take into consideration the public’s best interest when handing out parking tickets. In this regard, he highlighted upon facilitating mass parking as well as new legislations on import of vehicles. Thus he believes that it is prejudiced to give out tickets without giving enough space for parking.
Nonetheless even though parking violations have been brought to a halt, driving without license and speeding violations are still punishable by law and offenders will be brought to justice.
