Gulf Cobla assigned reclamation project of Fares-Maathodaa Airport

Gulf Cobla group has been assigned the reclamation project of a domestic airport in Gaaf Dhaalu Atoll. The airport which is being developed on Fares-Maathodaa is an investment of USD 2.5 Million.

In a ceremony held at the Ministry of Tourism, the agreement was signed by the Minister, Mr. Moosa Zameer and Mr. Ahmed Michael, Managing Director of the Gulf Cobla group. Member of Fares-Maathodaa constituency, Mr. Mohamed Latheef also attended the ceremony.

The Minister stated that the airport will further develop the tourism in the atoll. This project will also make it easier for locals travelling between Male’ and the farthest atolls from the capital city, Gaaf Alifu and Gaaf Dhaalu.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Michael expressed that the company will finish the project within the allocated period. Gulf Cobla is given a period of 90 days to finish the reclamation.

The airport to be developed at Fares-Maathodaa will have a 1.2km long runway along with an apron and passenger terminal. The Ministry will hand over the airport development project to a company in the near future.
