Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has been granted the Telecommunication Infrastructure Licence issued by the Communications Authority of the Maldives (CAM). This is the first such licence issued by the authority.
The license was handed over to HDC’s Managing Director Ahmed Athif by CAM’s Chief Executive Officer Ilyas Ahmed during a special ceremony on Tuesday.
With this license, HDC will be allowed to set up communication infrastructure in Hulhumale’ and issue its facilities to service providers. Although the license was officially granted to HDC on Tuesday, HDC was previously granted permission to carry out its Open Access Network project.
Established in Hulhumale’ Phase II over a year ago, the Open Access Network provides FTTH (Fiber to the Home) services to residents. The official license was granted to HDC due to the confidence of communication service providers in providing quality services to citizens through the network.
Service providers utilizing the Open Access Network include Dhiraagu, Ooredoo Maldives, Medianet and Raajje Online (ROL).
