The High Commissioner of Maldives to Sri Lanka, H.E. Ali Faiz presented his Letter of Credence to the President of Sri Lanka, H.E. Ranil Wickremesinghe, at a ceremony held on Thursday afternoon at the President’s House, Kandy.
During the ensuing courtesy call, High Commissioner Faiz expressed his gratitude for the honour to present his Letter of Credence and serve as the High Commissioner of Maldives to Sri Lanka. High Commissioner Faiz also conveyed greetings from H.E. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the people of Maldives to the President and the people of Sri Lanka.
While noting the historical and close bonds between the two countries, High Commissioner Faiz thanked the Sri Lankan Government for its unwavering support and assistance to the Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka. High Commissioner further commended the leadership of H.E Wickremesinghe and the Government of Sri Lanka in tackling the current economic crisis and expressed hope for the country’s recovery at the earliest.
High Commissioner Faiz expressed his commitment to work closely with the Government of Sri Lanka with a renewed focus on further strengthening the existing bilateral relations between the two countries, in both bilateral and multilateral spheres.
H.E. Ranil Wickremesinghe, President of Sri Lanka, congratulated High Commissioner Faiz on the assumption of his duties as High Commissioner of Maldives to Sri Lanka. The President provided his assurance that his Government will work closely with the Government of Maldives for the benefit of the two countries and their peoples.
