Hotelier Maldives Announces Revamped GM Forum with New Date and Theme for 7th Edition

Hotelier Maldives announced the revamped General Managers (GM) Forum, with this year’s edition, initially scheduled for September, now moved to October 19, 2023, to accommodate the upcoming presidential election. This year’s forum will be held at Bandos Maldives.

The GM Forum, since its inauguration in 2016, has been a dedicated platform for over 100 general managers and hoteliers to gather, discuss industry-related problems, exchange ideas, and propose solutions. From this seventh edition, the forum is introducing an overarching theme for each year, with keynotes, panels, and presentations under various subtopics linked to the main theme.

The theme for this year’s forum is “Innovation and Technology for Sustainability”. This theme reflects the rise in new technologies, the fast-paced changes in the world, and the increasing number of eco-conscious travellers. It also aligns with the ‘Tourism for Good’ concept, emphasising the role of the hospitality industry in promoting sustainable practices.

In addition to the thematic focus, the revamped GM Forum will offer more networking opportunities for participants. General managers and hoteliers will have the chance to interact with key stakeholders from the government and industry, away from the formal conference setting, fostering a more relaxed and conducive environment for idea exchange and collaboration.

These changes follow a strategic partnership between Perspective Pvt. Ltd., publisher of Hotelier Maldives, and Maldives Promotion House Pvt. Ltd., publisher of Maldives Insider. The partnership, announced on June 1, brought together two prominent entities in the travel media landscape of Maldives, with a new management and editorial team joining Hotelier Maldives.

“We are excited about the changes we’ve made to the GM Forum. We believe that the new format will provide a fresh perspective and stimulate meaningful discussions on the future of Maldives’ tourism and hospitality industry,” said Ali Naafiz, Editor of Hotelier Maldives. “We look forward to sharing more details, including the venue, agenda, and speakers’ line-up for this year’s forum, in the coming weeks.”
