Ilyas Haneef Named CEO of CA Maldives

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives has appointed Ilyas Haneef as its Chief Executive Officer, effective 25 June 2026.

His appointment comes as CA Maldives continues its work to develop the accountancy profession and strengthen professional standards in the country. As CEO, Haneef is expected to oversee the institute’s strategic direction and its role in supporting accountants, auditors, and finance professionals in the Maldives.

Haneef brings experience across finance, corporate governance, and strategic management. He has held senior positions in both the public and private sectors, including serving as Chief Financial Officer of Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company.

He has also served on the boards of the Maldives Pension Administration Office and the Maldives Stock Exchange, giving him experience in areas linked to financial regulation, institutional governance, and capital market development.

Haneef holds a master’s degree from the University of Auckland in New Zealand and a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from the International Islamic University Malaysia. He is also a Certified Public Accountant with CPA Australia.

CA Maldives is the statutory body responsible for regulating and developing the accountancy profession in the Maldives.
