Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture records a 33.6% increase in the market price of yellowfin tuna.
The Ministry states that the current market price of yellowfin tuna is MVR 63.96, which is a 33.6% increase from last week’s MVR 42.43.
Yellowfin tuna is largely exported to the European market, with Spain holding a majority of the Yellowfin Tuna market. There has been a 1.46% increase in the Spanish market with a price increase from MVR 162 to MVR 165 per kilo.
The big-eyed tuna, which is mainly exported to Tokyo Metropolitan Auction Market, records a decrease in market price with a price drop MVR 377 to MVR 320 per kilo. This is a 17.67% decrease in the market price of big-eyed tuna.
Thailand, where Maldives exports most of its frozen tuna, records a decrease in market price of Skipjack Tuna as well.
